Cable Beach Faces West — Golden Hour Is Reliable
The entire Cable Beach shoreline, including Nuptial Beach, faces west-northwest. This means the sun sets directly over the water from the beach perspective — producing the warm, directional golden light that drives the best Nassau beach images. In peak season this begins around 5:30 PM. Glenn times every session to this window when sunset photography is the priority.
Shallow Water Produces the Vivid Turquoise Colour
The iconic turquoise of Nassau water requires less than three feet of depth and high sand reflectivity underneath. Both conditions exist in front of Nuptial Beach and Cabbage Beach. Glenn positions couples and families in the shallow water for the most saturated background colours — conditions that cannot be replicated in deeper offshore water regardless of how bright the sky is.
Midday Sun Is the Hardest Light to Work With
The Caribbean sun at midday (11 AM to 3 PM) sits almost directly overhead and produces harsh downward shadows on faces, squinting from brightness, and a bleached-out appearance in the water. No lens fully compensates for this. Glenn schedules morning or late afternoon sessions for every client — it is the single most impactful decision in Nassau beach photography.
Light-Coloured Attire Photographs Best
Against turquoise water and white sand, white, cream, and blush attire produces the strongest visual contrast and the most recognisably Caribbean aesthetic. Pale blues and tropical prints also read well. Dark or black attire requires heavily controlled light to separate the subject from the background. Morning Sessions at 8 AM Have Advantages Too
Nassau beaches at 8 AM have minimal tourist activity, soft and even light from the east, and cooler temperatures than any other time of day. Morning sessions work particularly well for families with young children who struggle in afternoon heat, and for couples who prefer softer, more diffused light over the warm golden tones of sunset.
